Sandiaga Uno Promises to Stop Exports of Raw Rattan to China and Vietnam
JurnalFakta. Vice President Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno visited the center of the Rattan Industry in Trangsan Village, Gatak, Sukoharjo, Central Java, Friday, December 28, 2018. During his visit, Rattan businessman Nurhayati confided in Sandi about scarcity of raw materials, difficult capital, and rising rattan prices.
Nurhayati admitted that it was increasingly difficult to get raw materials for the craftsmen. He was worried that rattan crafts in Trangsan Village would be lost.
"In essence, sir, the craftsmen and exporters have difficulties in getting raw materials. To get raw materials, we need a struggle. Rattan has increased tremendously. Why does every purchase of rattan continue to rise? Even though the purchasing power of Australia, Europe and America goes down," Nurhayati said.
In fact, he said, the Vietnam country whose standard of rattan production is standard under Indonesia is now better.
"Because Vietnam's government is very supportive of rattan businessmen. Here many depend on their lives in this industry. If our factory is closed, how many people lose their jobs," explained Nur.
Sandiaga said he was furious at the condition. He likens that the Indonesian nation is like hungry in a rice barn. Sandi promised to stop raw rattan exports.
"Honestly I am worried. The solution is to stop raw rattan exports. Imagine rattan farmers in Kalimantan claim that the stock is abundant, even the selling price drops. But in Trangsen village, rattan prices continue to rise. This is something wrong," said Sandiaga.
Sandi told me that he had a rattan company. But it was closed in 2002 because of the same problem. He realized that until now the condition of rattan entrepreneurs had gotten worse.
Sandi promised not to mess with the rattan trade system. According to him, Rattan can be an added value to drive the Indonesian economy.
"Exports of raw rattan to China and Vietnam. The period we make is rich in Vietnamese and Chinese craftsmen. It should be the advanced village of Trangsan," Sandi said.
Then, for Rattan craftsmen in the area, Sandi promised to pay attention to capital issues with the OKCE program.
"I will encourage the One Village One Center Entrepreneurship program. We will provide mentoring training, access to marketing and capital," said Sandiaga Uno.
